The Cadbury Trophy at El Paraiso Golf

The Cadbury Trophy

Med Golf Cadbury Trophy Players

Med Golf members met on the 17th June for their monthly outing at the popular El Paraiso Golf course, only a short drive away from Gibraltar. The weather was very good indeed and being slightly inland made it even hotter. We saw some great scores once again and the handicappers axe has fallen since the event for quite a few players. We use the CONGU computerised system and also have a policy that our players must use their worldwide lowest recognised handicap in our events.

The event was won with an amazing score of 43 points by Ben Cook. El Paraiso Cadbury Trophy Winner and sponsor

Ben won the Cadbury Trophy and 2 green fees on the San Roque Old Course with a superb winning overall score. Best gross score on the day was Peter Warren’s magnificent 1 over par 72. Best gross on the par 3s was Matt Guerrero. A mention should be made of a wonderful score from one of our newcomers, Nick Davis scored an amazing 46 points and we congratulate him on that. As per our policy, new players are not able to win on their first outing but if Nick keeps this up he’ll be sure to lift a trophy soon – even on his now lower handicap!.

To reward good scores for golfers of all levels we have 3 handicap categories in Med Golf competitions. Winner of Category 1 (0-12 handicap) was Peter Warren with 39 points; the runner up was Steve McEwan also with 39 points.

The Winner of the Category 2 (13-21 handicap) was Louis Calvente with 39 points, the runner up was Douglas Casciaro with 37 points, Doug and Louis also won the best team score with an impressive 76 points.  The runner up in category 3 (22 and above handicap) was Iqubal Dharamsi on 36 points and the winner of category 3 was Geoff Slade with 41 points.

The nearest the pin holes were won by, Greg Harris, Douglas Casciaro and Kenny MaCleanr who also won the nearest the pin in 2 prize on one of the par 4’s.

Everyone has some scope for a little improvement and our ‘Rabbit’ prize of a golf lesson went to Charles Hayward this month.

We also had our usual score card draw for a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label, generously sponsored by Saccone & Speed each month.
