Cabo de Gata Natural Park – The 71,500 acres of Cabo de Gata stretch east from Retamar, to the east of Almeria, across the cape to the Barranco del Honda, just north of Agua Amarga

Castle of Lijar – This castle was constructed by the Muslims during an era for which there is not very much information o­n Lijar and so this  description remains  quite short.  The best thing is to visit it and hear the history directly from the locals who have many stories about it and many other about the town and its history.
